Anyone planning to enroll in Pre-calculus (MTH 185), Calculus 1 (MTH 221) or English 101/102

presentation on Healthy Relationships
Ms. Newark and I have invited education and
community education and prevention specialists from the
Victim's Assistance Center of Jefferson County and
Planned Parenthood of Northern New York
to assist us during a presentation during advisement
on 5/24/2012 and 5/29/2012
This presentation is designed to:

raise students' awareness of what constitutes healthy and abusive dating relationships
-
raise students' awareness of dating abuse, its causes and consequences
-
equip students with the skills & resources to help themselves or their friends in unhealthy relationships
-
equip student with the skills to develop healthy relationships
-
help students develop positive communication & conflict resolution skills

at 4-H Camp Wabasso in Redwood for 6 - 8 weeks this summer.

Dairy Prospects Program
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson and Lewis Counties is once again offering the Dairy Prospects Program for 2012-2013 school year. All students grades 9-12 are eligible to apply for the program. Please see attached for a program flyer and application form.

This program offers the opportunity for student with an interest in a career in the dairy industry and agriculture in general to learn more about the career possibilities that exist. The program consist of 6-8 meetings and trips from August 2012 to June 2013.
Events will include a team building trip to a Ropes Course; tours of farms and agri-businesses locally and across NYS; tours of colleges with agricultural majors such as SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Morrisville and Cornell University; Hands-on workshops; Job shadowing
Summer School
LCS will not offer summer school this year
The only options for taking advance or repeat classes will be at the following area high schools. Students will be expected to pay full tuition and provide their own transportation
~Watertown High School: Grades 9-12 Summer school registration information, course schedules and offerings are now available in the School Counseling Office *The cost for an advance (never taken) course is $450 *The cost for a repeat class is $300. (deadline to register is 6/27)
