Want to get a jump-start on your college course work this summer? Syracuse University's Project Advance (SUPA) will be offering a combination online / classroom experience in Forensic Science. The lab portion of this 6-week, 4 credit hour couse will occur at IR. The cost is $110 / credit hour ($440), but financial assistance is available to students who qualify for free / reduced lunch

WorkForce 2020 Event for Seniors
~Friday, January 10, 2014~
All seniors are currently working in their English 12 class to:
Prepare an employment or activity profile resume
Prepare cover letters
Prepare employment applications
Research job opportunities at local companies
Practice interviewing skills
WorkForce 2020 is a large career fair where students choose to meet with at least 3 local employers to practive professional interviews, receive feedback about their resume and find out about career opportunities available in our area.

Attention Juniors: Jefferson County Student Government Program
Applications are currently being accepted for intersted participants. Ther is a limit to the number of individuals each school can send, so slots are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. To be considered as one of LaFargeville's participants, you must submit an essay to Mrs. Gascon by 12/3/13 which explains (a). why you want to participate and (b). what you hope to gain from participation in this program.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County partners with the Jefferson County Board of Legislators to provide high school students with hands-on experience with civic engagement and an in-depth understanding of county and local government
Program dates for 2014: 9:00 am - 2:15 each Tuesday from 1/28/14 ~ 1/4/14 at BOCES with an evening portion on 3/4/14 held at the County Office Building in Watertown. Students must be able to commit to all sessions to be considered.
In the past, students have taken personality inventories to help them determine careers to explore, participated in team building activities, produced a resume, learned parliamentary procedure, taken field trips to various governmental agencies, interviewed a legislator, and received an inside look about the issues currently happening in our local government.
